Do you have an Ace up your sleeve?

Social Media has been the highway of communication ever since I have been alive. In the beginning though, it was for talking to friends and sharing what you like with others who could possibly think it's cool too. So when the realm of Social Media kept getting bigger and bigger, business's starting using things like ads to help promote their products or services to any and all users.

These days though businesses are using social media more and more, but not for what you would think they would use it for. Businesses are looking for employees and people with special skills and sometimes regular every day users will use their social media as a portfolio. Today's setup with social media in our lives makes it easier than ever to showcase the things you're doing in your life that diversify you from the rest of the pack, and now more than ever this is happening in the Fashion Industry for people like Brooklyn Beckham.

This is Brooklyn Beckham, a 16 year old boy who was hired to do a photo shoot for the Burberry Brit Fragrances ad campaign. When it was first announced that he was to be the photographer the fashion community jumped the gun in outrage saying that the only reason he got the job was because he is the son of David and Victoria Beckham. But Christopher Bailey, the head of Burberry, came out stating that it was Brooklyn's 5.9 million followers on Instagram that got him the job in the end.

Social Media has changed the way we communicate and share our interests with others but now it's changing the way that the job market works as well. Experience is meaning less and less as all these digital portfolios pop up in the multitude of business fields throughout the job market. And now especially in the fashion world it's becoming apparent that Instagram followers trumps the photographer with 20 years of experience. I guess you could say that Social Media is turning into the ace of spades for people hunting in the job market.
