Facebook Stays at the Top!

According to eBizMBA the top 5 most popular social media sites are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest and Google+ as of February 1 2015. Why are these sites the most popular? What do they do to get there and how do they stay at the top?

Facebook is at number one on the top 5 social media sites. Almost everyone you know has or has had a Facebook profile. Facebook is easy to use and allows people to play games, interact with one another and allows businesses to advertise. Facebook has a staggering 900,000,000 estimated monthly users! What’s even more impressive is there are over 1.23 billion users’ itself! Even ABC posted an article about Facebook and its upcoming birthday! Why would a huge news station write an article on Facebook? This is because everyone knows what Facebook is. It is so well marketed very easy to use. When a news station has something that everyone is familiar with people tend to listen a little more... at least that's how I feel.

While all of this is great Facebook can be very dangerous as well.  Facebook has over 600,000 hacking attempts daily! Which may not be for the reasons that you may be thinking of but it does happen? People will hack into profiles to post things on their walls to spread the word about a website or even just to spread a virus. Statistics show that the average Facebook user spends over 40 minutes a day on the site. Users who have the app would check their Facebook on average of 14 times a day. What makes people want to spend so much time on Facebook? What makes the brain think to check Facebook up to 14 times a day or 40 minutes a day?  Facebook is addicting, I can say so myself. Although its fun to see what your friends are up too and to see what awesome or funny things they have posted have you ever noticed the advertising that will pop up here and there as you scroll through? Facebook actually tracks and "looks" at the sites that you go on to see what would be the best advertisement that would fit you. Believe it or not Facebook will even log what you are looking at once you logged out.

Even after all good and the bad things that can happen with Facebook, I love it! I would recommend it to anyone. The reasons I would recommend Facebook are, connectivity is seamless, interaction is quick and easy with friends and strangers alike, and the last reason why I would recommend Facebook is because of the vast majority of information being distributed daily . More than likely you as a reader have a Facebook yourself, with that said think about how much you enjoy it or dislike it and if you would recommend it to a friend.

Please feel free to investigate the sites  I used.
